Hello! I’m Alicia and I’m a senior at VCU (go Rams!) I’m studying Public Relations and I hope to work in the fashion PR field after graduating. Before moving to Richmond, I did a couple of fashion internships in New York and fell in love with the industry.
When did you start your blog?
I started this blog after I moved to Richmond last fall.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
Out of all the places I’ve lived (NYC, Philly, Northern Virginia), Richmond seemed to have its own unique sense of style and I knew I wanted to be a part of this city’s distinctive fashion scene. River City Chic is not only a way I can show off my own sense of style, but it helps me connect with other Richmond fashionistas as well.
Where are your favorite places to shop in RVA? South Moon Under has the best statement jewelry and my favorite trends, Rumors is a great spot that I can shop at in between classes and get something completely unique and H&M is always great for affordable yet chic pieces.
Top 3 favorite blogs to read?
Dirty Richmond and Her Late Night Cravings (http://herlatenightcravings.blogspot.com/) are my two of my favorite local blogs. I’m also a big fan of Steffy’s Pros and Cons (http://steffysprosandcons.blogspot.com/), I adore all of her killer vintage finds!
How would you describe your personal style?
I always tell people that my style can be summed up in three F’s: fun, flirty and feminine! I love timeless staples in bold colors and prints, but I’m not afraid to mix in a trend or two to keep my look current. Whatever I’m rocking, I’m a huge girly-girl and my style definitely reflects this!
Who is your style inspiration?
My mother, hands down! She was quite the little fashionista back in the day – she even sewed her own clothes when she was my age! She taught me from day one how important it is to accessorize. Oh, and it also helped that I was able to borrow pieces from her fabulous jewelry collection while growing up!
If you could give any advice to other bloggers what would it be?
Don’t worry too much about follower counts, Facebook likes or Twitter followers. Spend time crafting the best content you can and people will appreciate your blog!
