Where are you located? A very small and rural town called McKenney, Virginia.

Tell us a little about yourself: My name is Yolanda. I’m currently studying to become a pharmacy technician, but if I could blog all day, I would. I have a thing for music, cooking, interior design, and reading these fabulous mystery novels by J.D. Robb.

When did you start your blog? I began blogging a year ago, but I didn’t begin to take it seriously until a few months ago.

2

Why did you decide to start blogging? Not to have this total sob story, but I really have no one to share my passions with, and I still have the problem of letting my family tell me what I should do with my life. I started my blog as a creative outlet, a place where I could share my favorite style trends, recipes, or whatever. And my aim is for readers and visitors to leave FAD with at least one beauty/style tip.

Where are your favorite places to shop in RVA? I love Carytown and all of its amazing shops; American Apparel and Need Supply are two of my favorites.

Top 3 favorite blogs to read? Cheetah Is The New Black, I Dress Myself and The Man Repeller.

set-4[1]

How would you describe your personal style?  Casual with a hint of flash. I add fun accessories to make my outfits really stand out.

Who is your style inspiration? I’m not inspired by a particular person. My style tends to be pretty simple, and usually depends on the weather. Perhaps that’s what inspires me.

What has been one of your favorite experiences blogging has lead to? Blogging has led me to me communicate with several amazing people, whether face-to-face or through social media! I love hearing fellow bloggers going through similar blogging woes, or seeing and hearing what progress their site has made. Those comments and stories are uplifting and encourage me to keep going in my journey.

If you could give any advice to other bloggers what would it be? Don’t be a copycat. Never steal anyone else’s photos or their text, and don’t compare yourself to the more “popular” bloggers out there. Simply enjoy your blog, enjoy watching it blossom to what you want it to be.

Where are you located? Richmond, VA

Tell us a little about yourself: I’m originally from New Jersey but have lived in Richmond for most of my life. I’m a true Virgo in every sense, and a very free spirited individual! I love to travel, blog, and make sure to always enjoy the simple things in life. My love for fashion has always existed, and I hope to open a boutique within the next few years and continue to grow as an individual and blogger.

When did you start your blog? August 2012

shopsWhy did you decide to start blogging? My love for fashion paired with my obsession for other people’s blogs inspired me to start my own!

Where are your favorite places to shop in RVA? I’m a huge fan of online shopping but when I do shop in Richmond my go to stores are usually H&M and Diversity Thrift.

Top 3 favorite blogs to read? My top 3 favorite blogs are Be Loud Be You, Fashion Bananas, and Karla’s Closet. Each of these ladies really know how to put together a complete finished look while making it look effortless!

How would you describe your personal style? I would describe my personal style as ever evolving, lately I’ve been giving a more “Cali-Chic” look as I like to call it, next month it could be something totally different. I will say I’m not afraid to try different looks, I love bright colors, and I’m a huge fan of mixing prints & patterns.

radio+cityWho is your style inspiration? My father is one of my biggest style inspirations, he grew up in a time when leather, afros, and fringe was in, so whenever I go through old photos of him his outfits always seem to inspire me! Kelis, Jimi Hendrix, Grace Jones and Tracy Ellis Ross are also some of my style inspirations; they all bring something very original and refreshing!

What has been one of your favorite experiences blogging has lead to? I’m a huge fan of networking; you never know who you’re going to meet. By blogging I’m consistently attending events, and getting to meet others who share my love of fashion and blogging, so that in my opinion is a great experience within itself.

If you could give any advice to other bloggers what would it be? Do your own thing, and do what you love! Don’t try to follow what someone else is doing or try to fit in with others. It’s your blog, so let it be a reflection of who you really are!

Where are you located? Richmond, VA

Tell us a little about yourself: I am a rising senior at VCU studying Fashion Merchandising. Fashion is one of my biggest passions, I believe studying it reveals something so special about the individual.

When did you start your blog? I started my blog back in June of 2011. As the years have gone by the blog has evolved a lot. I have learned a lot through the process, and still have so much to learn.

tumblr_mhwypuMIJX1qm99j1o1_400Why did you decide to start blogging? I decided to start blogging so I could have a different platform to explore and express myself through fashion. I also wanted to focus on improving my writing on fashion, personal, and cultural blog posts. I would find myself so blown away by the rich culture, street style, and essence of Richmond and I wanted to share that.

Where are your favorite places to shop in RVA? I really enjoy the culture that surrounds thrifting. I find some of my favorite finds in the most unexpected locations. Specifically for thrifting, my favorites are Round Two Vintage, Fan Thrift, B- Sides and Rumors. I also like shopping at American Apparel, H&M, and Halcyon.

tumblr_inline_mmck8eOF4i1qz4rgpTop 3 favorite blogs to read? My 3 favorite blogs to read are wetheurban.com , nymag.com/thecut/, and wmagazine.com/w/blogs/editorsblog.

How would you describe your personal style? Evolving. I find myself always oscillating between extremes then a few months later I am in a whole new direction. One thing that is consistent with my style is I try to have it reflect my personality. I always try to push barriers and discover new aspects of my style.

Who is your style inspiration? There are so many amazing style icons but Audrey Hepburn is definitely my biggest inspiration. Hepburn’s style is iconic because it was lovely and powerful, but always looked effortless and genuine. I am very inspired by the bold and eccentric styles of M.I.A. The late designer Alexander McQueen will always be a really important part of fashion for me, I find myself constantly reflecting and in awe of his words and the art of his fashions.

tumblr_inline_mnubk9Naid1qz4rgpWhat has been one of your favorite experiences blogging has lead to? I believe my favorite experience that came from the blog was covering the Valentine Museum Gala. I was able to take up close pictures of fashions from as early as the Victorian Era. I also met a lot of notable people in fashion in Richmond, even Ms. Jay from America’s Next Top Model was there!

If you could give any advice to other bloggers what would it be? Don’t be afraid that your view isn’t cool enough, or is odd. Express yourself fearlessly, and be bold!

DSC03282Where are you located? Richmond, VA

Tell us a little about yourself: I’m originally from Brazil and I’ve been studying in Richmond for one year. Fashion is one of my biggest interests, so I’m constantly going through style blogs, coming up with new outfits and complimenting strangers on their clothes. I’ve even taken up sewing. But I’m a little nerdy too: books and movies are my passions.

When did you start your blog? September, 2012.

lace3Why did you decide to start blogging? When style blogs came out, I quickly became addicted. After following several style blogs for a while, I wanted to share my outfits and inspirations too.

Where are your favorite places to shop in RVA? I like H&M and Ann Taylor (both on Short Pump Mall) but most of my clothes come from Goodwill and thrift stores.

Top 3 favorite blogs to read? I like Kendi Everyday, she has that girl-next-door vibe which I love. I also read What I Wore because Jessica manages to look polished and fun at the same time. And I can’t get enough of ISPYDIY’s project ideas.

mix8 How would you describe your personal style? Hum… I’d say my style is South American preppy, which means I pair button down shirts with colorful skirts. But I’m definitely feminine and classic.

Who is your style inspiration? I get style inspiration from all over the place, from street style blogs to classic movies.

profile2What has been one of your favorite experiences blogging has lead to? Well, it was through my blog that I became a part of the RVAFB group. Being new to Richmond, this was a great way to meet some amazing girls.

If you could give any advice to other bloggers what would it be? Be true to your personal style and tastes. Don’t wear certain pieces just because they are trendy and never write about topics you are not passionate about. Readers can tell when you are not being yourself.
