Sydney of Chic Stripes for Chic Stripes Styling:
Richmond has become synonymous with creativity, local businesses, and entrepreneurship. We can co-work, order organic and locally grown produce from our computers, and share information faster and better thanks to a lot of our very own local talent. i.e.* is a product of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and their twitter “about” sums them up best: “a collaborative community initiative to support and accelerate cross-industry creativity & innovation in the Richmond region.” To do this, they’ve started the i.e.* Start-Up Competition, now in its second year, and this year I’m a competitor!
I started Chic Stripes three years ago because I wanted to help people build quality wardrobes. My business cards even read “personal shopper” – and now I’m working to make my early dreaming a reality. Three years later, that early idea is still going strong, only now I’m focused on helping people build quality wardrobes from a 2nd hand point of view.
The competition is based around public voting, American Idol style, and it starts TODAY! Each person can vote once per day March 26-28, 2013. A total of 15 contestants will be chosen for a live, in-person pitch where one winner will be picked by a panelist. That winner will receive start-up money to the tune of $10,000, IT help, office space, and more.
Your vote for my dream business means the world to me and is all too easy: 1) click this link: http://www.ie-rva.org/contest/start-up-competition-2013/ , 2) scroll down until you see “Chic Stripes Styling”, 3) vote! Shannon of Thirsty Richmond for Boho Cycle Studio:
My new business, Boho Cycle Studio, has been entered in a Start-Up Competition through the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and needs votes to get to the finals. Unlike big gyms that offer indoor cycling, we dedicate all of our energy to making every class an exceptional ride. We have created a format that is a full body conditioning experience, geared to riders at every fitness level. There are no contracts or commitments required as we operate on a pay per class model.
We are dedicated to giving back to our community by promoting a healthy lifestyle. We provide discounted rides to students, fundraising rides for local charities, and healthy resources to riders and neighbors. Riding at Boho is not just a work out. It is an experience. A party on a bike! Clip in. Let go. Enjoy the ride. Here is what you have to do to vote.
